Never Pay Retail Price

We bought our current house several years ago and absolutely love it! It was a foreclosure that had been on the market for quite a while and had been reduced in price several times. Have I mentioned that I try to never pay retail price for anything?

Anyway, after we moved in we discovered that the builders “disposed” of some of the construction debris by tossing it in the woods. <sigh>. So we set off to discover the hidden treasures around us and properly dispose of them.

One such discovery was this broken piece of granite countertop. Nothing special really, but we saved it in case inspiration struck.

Spring Cleaning Inspiration

Fast forward to spring. We were doing some much needed weeding in our entry way. I should mention that we live way off the beaten path. I mean way, way off the beaten path. If you drive past our house you are definitely lost and should turn around.

We joked about needing a sign that read “Here There Be Dragons”; A reference to way map makers of old would mark unchartered areas of the world. That’s when I remembered the old granite countertop and an idea began to form.

Here There Be Dragons

I rushed to my laptop and loaded up the Uppercase Living MyDesign Suite software on my website. I found the perfect dragon embellishment and the perfect font for the customized text and placed my order using product rewards that I had earned. I told you that I don’t like paying retail.

We cleaned up the broken countertop and applied the vinyl. I absolutely love the way it turned out!
